School Holiday Programs


Our School Holiday Programs offer fun and dynamic opportunities for children to explore their creativity in response to works of art on display at the Art Gallery.
Join practicing artists and specialist children’s guides for a chance to experience, discuss and make works of art.


Ships Ahoy School Holiday Workshops
Youngsters who fancy themselves as captains, pirates, mini-mariners and mermaids are invited on board for some mid-winter seafaring fun activities these holidays at the Gallery during the Treasure Ships exhibition.  They can make a treasure map or treasure chest, a ship in a bottle or a creature from the sea.
When: Monday 6 July - Friday 10 July, at 10am, 11.30am (for 5 to 8 year olds) and 1pm (for 9 to 12 year olds)
Where: Radford Auditorium

Treasures by Lantern Light
Embark on a journey deep into the shadows of the Treasure Ships exhibition with the debonair master of the waves Captain Pedro Pyjamas as your guide.  As his delightful tale steers a course by candlelight through the exhibition, visitors help the Captain to discover his most valuable treasure of all.
When: Monday 6 July - Friday 10 July at 5pm, 6pm & 7pm
Where: Tours cast off from the exhibition entrance
Cost: Family $35, Adult $15, Child 5-12 $5

Ceramics Studio Workshops at the Jam Factory
Young teens can learn the art of blue-point ceramic decoration and glazing for firing to produce an object to take home in these introductory workshops, offered in collaboration with the Jam Factory.
When: Daily workshops, Monday 13 July - Wednesday 15 July, 10am - 12noon
Where: Meet at the entrance to the Jam Factory, Morphett Street, Adelaide
