YOUR GALLERY

29 November 2012 -  7 April 2013

YOUR Gallery is the ultimate people’s choice exhibition.

In the months of September and October 2012, the Art Gallery of South Australia, together with 891 ABC Adelaide, asked the public to decide which works of art from the Gallery’s collection they wanted to see on display.

This on-air and on-line project offered 120 works of art including paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photographs and decorative arts from all of the Gallery’s collecting areas including Australian art, Asian art, Indigenous Australian art, European and North American art.

The works of art were presented and voted upon in themed categories such as A is for Animal, After Dark, House and Garden, Sacred and Powerful, The Body and Journeys. The most popular works of art, now on display include a 400 year old Indian painting depicting Dara Shikoh, the eldest son of the Mughal Emperor of India, Shah Jahan, and Australia’s most iconic photograph, Max Dupain’s 1937 Sunbaker.

If you were the curator, what would you choose?
