SCHOOLS LEARNING PROGRAM

Turner is regarded as one of the greatest landscape painters. This exhibition provides students an insight into Turner’s ability to capture the atmospheric impression of light, as well as life and events of the 18th century to mid-19th century. Students can explore how Turner represented the turbulent times of slavery, migration, industrial revolution, conflicts and modernisation.

Visiting the Turner exhibition provides students opportunities to:
- observe how the artist's works reflect the social, cultural and historical contexts of the time
- explore how new media, materials, techniques and technologies impacted on the development of his work
- analyse and interpret his works
- engage with original works of art
